If you have seen the movies, you know that nun chuks can be a very effective weapon, as often seen in the Bruce Lee movies. While it looks great on TV, it takes a lot of training and practice to get good. Taking classes on how to use these weapons is available by highly qualified instructors.
Get in Shape
In addition to learning how to use these weapons, you will need to get in shape. The classes emphasize losing weight and getting fit and they have the exercises needed to take the pounds off. Being highly flexible, as well as being coordinated, is necessary for the proper use of the nun chuks and martial arts.
Other Benefits
In addition to getting in shape, the sport will add the ability to have a high level of concentration and focus. Students must learn how the weapon moves and be able to use it interchangeably between hands. This requires that you know how it is moving and where it is at all times.
Being able to concentrate is a benefit that will extend into school, allowing students to be able to listen better to the teachers and study with greater concentration. Everything they do in life, if they are going to succeed at it, will be helped by this ability.
Developing stamina is another benefit. This enables them to continue doing something repeatedly, or trying something new without quitting – even if it hurts. Before long, they will be able to do things without being asked, because of the greater self-discipline that will develop, too.
Self-defense
This weapon is excellent for use in close-up self-defense. Its greatest value comes when a student can use it well after lots of training and practice. It is important to understand where it may not be legal to carry it. In addition to the training in weapons, the student will also learn punches, kicks, blocks, etc.
Belt Ranks
Different belts can be gained from training and much practice with the nun chuks and other martial arts weapons. The more practice that a student does on their own will result in faster promotion.
Self-control
Instruction in any form of martial arts, as long as it is continued, will lead to a strong development of self-control and self-discipline. It takes self-discipline to master any move and get it down correctly. These qualities will benefit them for life.
Students are also taught only to use a martial arts weapon when absolutely necessary, and that would be only after other channels have been tried (if possible). Instructors are careful to instill in the students to have respect for other people, and safety is always emphasized in all of the classes.

We invite you to come and attend a class in our Staten Island, New York location for free, or to come and talk to our instructors about the class. They will be glad to answer any questions you have.
