When you want your child to develop faster to give them an advantage over other kids their age, taking special classes to speed up their child development can really help. There are many activities that are age appropriate to enable your young children to experience many things and meet challenges.

The Gym

The gym has many different stations and types of activities available for the children. Each one of these is different, and instructors work with each child to ensure safety and fun.

At the same time, the equipment is designed to help develop strength, flexibility, and balance. It also helps each one to develop coordination as they learn to move their arms, legs and body at the same time.

Another benefit is that it helps them to learn to listen to the teacher – and to others, which will be highly beneficial in school and at home. At the same time, the children also learn how to focus more and concentrate on what they are doing and know how their hands and body are moving.

Increased Health

When kids learn to move and do various activities that will strengthen them, they also get in shape. This can help them develop healthier bodies and it also helps them to get started on and interested in staying fit. Starting early can help them avoid becoming obese and will enable them to avoid serious health issues later on such as diabetes, heart problems, and possibly even cancer.

The Instructors

Each of the instructors is trained and knows how to work with children. They provide a lot of positive encouragement for each child and will help and guide them where needed to ensure their safety.

The Classes

All of the classes are structured and carefully planned in advance to provide interesting and fun activities. Games and physical activities may include relays, sports, gymnastics, dance, and more. The goal is to strengthen each child physically, and to help them learn and do new things that will challenge them, as well.

Each class is age appropriate. This ensures that the children in the program develop not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally under the most favorable circumstances. Children also develop socially as they learn how to interact successfully with other children and to respect them.

Starting on a Healthy Lifestyle

Although the children are young, the things they learn as a child can help them form habits for life. This is especially true if those habits continue to be reinforced at home. This will mean cutting out some TV and video games – but keeping healthy and staying fit is worth the price. Getting started now will mean a much more exciting life.

The Amerikick Martial Arts gym has instructors that are experienced and certified in child development. We have special equipment for the children to help them develop strong bodies and to prepare them for life. Our Kids Karate Classes Develop:

Focus

From the very first class, your child will learn the importance of eye contact, posture, and active listening skills that will benefit them not only in Karate but at home, on the playing field, and of course, at school. Both teachers and parents often notice the dramatic difference in children who study the Martial Arts. Your child will be more focused with school and homework.

Self-Control

When confronted, a child’s first option should be to get away; fighting should be the very last resort. It is a myth that the Martial Arts fosters aggressiveness in children. On the contrary, with continuous training, there are natural increases in a child’s confidence, discipline and self-control.

Self-Discipline

The Martial Arts instills discipline in students by requiring full attention in class, refraining from unruly behavior, the importance of arriving on time and being prepared. Students are also taught to follow instructions and not interrupt instructors. Kids are expected to keep uniforms and other items clean and organized.

Self-Confidence

Many parents enroll their children in Martial Arts to boosts their confidence, self-esteem and feeling of self-worth. Kids put forth their best effort, defend themselves, recognize their own potential and believe in their abilities. Because of their own efforts, there is a feeling of pride with each rank advancement.

Respect

Nothing does a better job at teaching the “old school” values of respect and courtesy. Martial Arts training teaches children to answer in a respectful manner to instructors (“Yes Sensei” or “No Sensei”), bow when entering and leaving the dojo, tag hands before sparring, stand straight before class begins and raising hands to answer or ask a question.

Goal Setting

At a very early age, Martial Art students are encouraged to set long term goals. The most obvious goal is reaching the rank of Black Belt. The Martial Arts instills indomitable spirit so children never give up on their dreams. Learning to set goals encompasses the life experiences of a Martial Arts student.

Fitness

“Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years.” (CDC, 7/2013). “Two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese.” (Flegalet al., 2012). We hear about it all the time. Did you know that in many cases, the bad lifestyle habits that lead to obesity start in childhood and can get worse over time? Fortunately, the Martial Arts help families avoid falling into these statistics by teaching healthy lifestyles and fitness early on. The Martial Arts improve flexibility, endurance, balance, agility, strength and motor skills.
