At the Amerikick Martial Arts center, although we teach martial arts, our goal is much bigger than doing just that. We aim to build a community of people who are looking to make much more out of their life. We aim to give them the tools they need to build successful and productive lives.

The Tools We Use

In building this community of successful people, we know that it takes much more than just martial arts. We want to help you develop those tools that you need for success. This includes valuable characteristics such as self-discipline, self-respect, stamina, better health, and the ability to focus. We also use an abundant use of praise and encouragement to help you develop each of these qualities.

Expert Instructors

Our instructors at Amerikick are all experts in various fields of martial arts. They all hold black belts in their particular areas of instruction which includes karate, kickboxing, MMA, boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, and nun chuks. Other instructors are also experts in gymnastics, yoga, and child development. Each one of them is also certified to teach in their field of specialty.

Each one has been selected to work in our programs at the gym because of their care for the people they work with. They genuinely are interested in the growth and development of everyone in the classroom.

Our Experience

We have been teaching martial arts for nine years now, and have produced a number of champions in the ring. This reveals that not only can we win championship awards, but we are also capable of passing that knowledge and expertise on to those we teach.

Just as important, many people who have no desire to enter the ring have also greatly benefited from the classes. Many of them are still with us, seeking to become better and more proficient in the martial arts of their choice.

Continuing Education

Although our instructors have excelled in their training and experience, they are not settled with having reached a plateau. They continue to take new courses and classes every six months to further their academic education and their martial arts training, making sure that they can give you the best experience and training possible.

It is the goal of all of them to help you or your child to grow physically and mentally to enable you to reach for and achieve higher and better goals in your life. The challenges in the classroom help provide the self-discipline, the energy and stamina, as well as focus to become the leaders of the future.

Children’s Programs

Our children’s programs instructors, especially those working in child development, have all been certified to teach children and they also continue to take courses to learn more. They care for children and want to help ensure that each of them receives the instruction needed to further their development.

Our experience has proven that the tools we give students really do work in the schools. At least 90% of our students have a 90% grade average or more in school. The training works to give them increased academic success.

Training for the Future

At Amerikick Martial Arts, we train people for a better future. We help you develop self-discipline that enables you to get things done, focus that helps you get things done faster, and self-confidence to help you believe that you can reach higher goals and farther than ever before.

Our Kids Karate Classes Develop:

Focus

From the very first class, your child will learn the importance of eye contact, posture, and active listening skills that will benefit them not only in Karate but at home, on the playing field, and of course, at school. Both teachers and parents often notice the dramatic difference in children who study the Martial Arts. Your child will be more focused with school and homework.

Self-Control

When confronted, a child’s first option should be to get away; fighting should be the very last resort. It is a myth that the Martial Arts fosters aggressiveness in children. On the contrary, with continuous training, there are natural increases in a child’s confidence, discipline and self-control.

Self-Discipline

The Martial Arts instills discipline in students by requiring full attention in class, refraining from unruly behavior, the importance of arriving on time and being prepared. Students are also taught to follow instructions and not interrupt instructors. Kids are expected to keep uniforms and other items clean and organized.

Self-Confidence

Many parents enroll their children in Martial Arts to boosts their confidence, self-esteem and feeling of self-worth. Kids put forth their best effort, defend themselves, recognize their own potential and believe in their abilities. Because of their own efforts, there is a feeling of pride with each rank advancement.

Respect

Nothing does a better job at teaching the “old school” values of respect and courtesy. Martial Arts training teaches children to answer in a respectful manner to instructors (“Yes Sensei” or “No Sensei”), bow when entering and leaving the dojo, tag hands before sparring, stand straight before class begins and raising hands to answer or ask a question.

Goal Setting

At a very early age, Martial Art students are encouraged to set long term goals. The most obvious goal is reaching the rank of Black Belt. The Martial Arts instills indomitable spirit so children never give up on their dreams. Learning to set goals encompasses the life experiences of a Martial Arts student.

Fitness

“Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years.” (CDC, 7/2013). “Two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese.” (Flegalet al., 2012). We hear about it all the time. Did you know that in many cases, the bad lifestyle habits that lead to obesity start in childhood and can get worse over time? Fortunately, the Martial Arts help families avoid falling into these statistics by teaching healthy lifestyles and fitness early on. The Martial Arts improve flexibility, endurance, balance, agility, strength and motor skills.
