The Amerikick Martial Arts dojo has two facilities in Staten Island, New York. Amerikick is the name of a franchise of martial arts centers across the United States. Each center is independently owned by experts in the martial arts, and they are provided with ongoing training in teaching and business.

Our Facilities

Our Staten Island facilities are state-of-the-art with speakers and high-tech equipment enabling us to use tablets for music and video in the classroom. The space is completely matted and it is kept clean and safe. Unlike most dojos, we also are happy to say that we have a waiting area for parents. This feature even lets some parents participate in the classes.

Our Philosophy

It is our goal at Amerikick to provide all of our students with training that can prepare them for all of life. In addition to the professional martial arts training that we offer, we also want to prepare them for a successful life.

By instilling in each student several valuable qualities, we intend to help each one be prepared for whatever they will face in the future. Qualities such as self-discipline, self-respect, focus, stamina, and respect for others, will prepare them for school, work, and even for better home life. It will also give them the tools they need for success in any area they choose to pursue later on.

Our Instructors

Each one of our instructors is a black belt, and some of them have multiple black belts. They have won and continue to win in various competitions around the nation and world.

Some of our instructors have been with us over the past nine years of our existence. They continue to train and grow both academically and in their particular area of expertise. They also are all actively engaged in various competitions through the year.

Safety

Students are also taught to respect others and not to use their martial arts skills outside of the dojo. They are also taught not to bully other people.

We use safety equipment in our classes to ensure that the students practice their kicks and punches, and various moves in a safe and healthy way. When any sparring takes place, it is always with similarly rated and trained opponents.

Our Invitation

We invite you to come by and visit our facility in Staten Island. While here, you can meet with our instructors and ask them any questions you have about our programs, qualifications, or anything else that is related. We would love to meet you, and your children who may be potential students, and our services are available for the whole family.

Our Kids Karate Classes Develop:

Focus

From the very first class, your child will learn the importance of eye contact, posture, and active listening skills that will benefit them not only in Karate but at home, on the playing field, and of course, at school. Both teachers and parents often notice the dramatic difference in children who study the Martial Arts. Your child will be more focused with school and homework.

Self-Control

When confronted, a child’s first option should be to get away; fighting should be the very last resort. It is a myth that the Martial Arts fosters aggressiveness in children. On the contrary, with continuous training, there are natural increases in a child’s confidence, discipline and self-control.

Self-Discipline

The Martial Arts instills discipline in students by requiring full attention in class, refraining from unruly behavior, the importance of arriving on time and being prepared. Students are also taught to follow instructions and not interrupt instructors. Kids are expected to keep uniforms and other items clean and organized.

Self-Confidence

Many parents enroll their children in Martial Arts to boosts their confidence, self-esteem and feeling of self-worth. Kids put forth their best effort, defend themselves, recognize their own potential and believe in their abilities. Because of their own efforts, there is a feeling of pride with each rank advancement.

Respect

Nothing does a better job at teaching the “old school” values of respect and courtesy. Martial Arts training teaches children to answer in a respectful manner to instructors (“Yes Sensei” or “No Sensei”), bow when entering and leaving the dojo, tag hands before sparring, stand straight before class begins and raising hands to answer or ask a question.

Goal Setting

At a very early age, Martial Art students are encouraged to set long term goals. The most obvious goal is reaching the rank of Black Belt. The Martial Arts instills indomitable spirit so children never give up on their dreams. Learning to set goals encompasses the life experiences of a Martial Arts student.

Fitness

“Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years.” (CDC, 7/2013). “Two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese.” (Flegalet al., 2012). We hear about it all the time. Did you know that in many cases, the bad lifestyle habits that lead to obesity start in childhood and can get worse over time? Fortunately, the Martial Arts help families avoid falling into these statistics by teaching healthy lifestyles and fitness early on. The Martial Arts improve flexibility, endurance, balance, agility, strength and motor skills.
